Why I chose Animas Highschool
I’ve always been a very creative person. Drawing and coloring all the time as a kid, taking music lessons etc. I don’t think in a textbook sort of way. I went to DHS for my freshman year and really struggled there. My teachers were never really that helpful when I had questions and I didn’t get the best grades. Transferring to Animas was a huge change and at first I wasn’t excited at all. I was leaving all of my friends behind and let’s be honest, social life is the most important thing to adolescents. So no, I was not excited at all. After the first couple weeks of school however, Animas really started to grow on me. I was making some really good friends and I was getting good grades. Animas is a place where I can think creatively and my teachers are always there to help and support me. The way teachers teach at Animas is very helpful and understandable. The environment is also very calming and it is easy to pay attention and learn. In middle school I went to St. Columba which is a small, private catholic school. It was a small environment and I got very good grades. The transition to DHS, however was very difficult because it was a much bigger school and all I had known was a small school environment. Coming to Animas was very good for me because I learn better in a small environment where I can think creatively and I am able to get help from my teachers when needed. I am very happy with Animas and I am very glad I decided to transfer. It allows for me to get amazing grades while still being able to think and learn in ways that make most sense to me. “Education means inspiring someone's mind, not just filling their head.”
